If wilderness safaris Namibia in our over-explored world can be considered a wilderness, Namibia is it. With dry riverbeds, scrubland that stretches to the horizon and sand dunes that are covered with a halo of orange dust, this otherworldly landscape is home to semi-nomadic Himba people. Discover it on a once-in-a-lifetime Kunene safari.
As the leading name in luxury flying safaris, Wilderness Safaris owns and operates a wide collection of camps and lodges throughout Africa. They are committed to protecting pristine wilderness areas and sharing the benefits of tourism with adjacent communities, while at the same time providing exceptional safari experiences for visitors.
Their latest success story is the arrival of two baby giraffe at Little Kulala, their newly refurbished camp in Namibia’s 27 000-hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve. This exciting development has got staff at the camp excited about future generations of giraffe, but more than anything, it’s the way in which the new arrivals are being treated that is making everyone happy.
“Immerse Yourself in Nature: A Safari Experience in Namibia
The giraffe are being fed from the camp’s own waterhole, meaning that they’re not competing with other game for food, and they are even taking dust baths in the shade. This approach reflects the conservation values of Wilderness Safaris, which is also striving for carbon neutrality and using solar powered water pumps at its new Serra Cafema camp.
The company is also working to develop community projects and supporting local people through its ecotourism activities, whether that’s helping school children to get to class by running a bus service, or giving work to women from the neighbouring village at Little Kulala.
