In this sense it tapped into the deep veins of reactionary populism.
This stance was sometimes obscured by seemingly apolitical coverage of crime and human-interest stories (although even these tended to carry implicit right-wing messages). The newspaper also had a reputation for virulent anti-Semitism, which reached its nadir in a Capitol Stuff column by John O’Donnell on October 3, 1945. The article characterized the decision to remove General George S. Patton from his command in Germany as being engineered by a clique of “Zionist Jewish-American political leaders” in the government.

In 2020 O ceased its print publication and rebranded as a digital product with a quarterly sister publication, O at Home. The website carries intense city news coverage, celebrity gossip, classified ads, comics and sports sections as well as an opinion section. It also provides a world press review with country-by-country and title-by-title summaries in English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. Some entries link to full text online in the original language and others only to current source news sites. In addition, the euro|topics Media page includes a daily selection of articles appearing in 28 European countries.
